Chrome Plating Back In Drivers’ Seat At Car Show
Exhibitors at IAA, the Frankfurt Motor Show, took chrome plating for cars to a new level, with some of the biggest car-makers in the world bringing bling.
The event, which takes place in Frankfurt from September 14th-24th, is one of the biggest automotive events on the planet, and is a good indicator for future vehicle trends.
The Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet SUV was one of the show-stopping cars on display at the exhibition, sporting a chrome-plated double louvre, chrome-plated screens on the radiator grilles, 22-inch 5-twin spoke alloy wheels, carbon fibre wheel arches, and Landaulet lettering in the rim flanges.
The Indian Autos Blog revealed only 99 of these vehicles will be produced, with 98 of them being sold at the recent Geneva Motor Show. The last copy of this vehicle will go up for auction for charity next month.
Mercedes-Benz also brought chrome to the S-Class Coupé and Cabriolet featuring front aprons with chrome-plated front splitters, while the restyled side skirt and chrome-plated twin tailpipe brought more eye-catching detail to this exciting car.
But it wasn’t just the SUVs and sportscars bringing the bling, Indian Autos Blog reported, with the new Smart ForFour hatchback featuring a chrome-plated tailpipe to complement the alloy wheels and wheel arches with smart lettering.
The website also revealed the Volkswagen saloon the VW Arteon R-Line features wrap-around chrome trip on the bodywork and a chrome-plated exhaust tailpipe.
