November ‘Peak Christmas Shopping Month’

November is when online Christmas shopping will peak this year, with an estimated £20 billion spent on gifts via the internet next month.

Internet Retailing highlighted the prediction from ecommerce consultancy Salmon, which is anticipating that £10 billion of the money spent will be via mobile.

Although Black Friday is still considered to be the biggest shopping day ahead of December 25th, head of managed services at Salmon James Webster explained that this day that typically kickstarts people’s shopping efforts appears to be extending.

“Black Friday is no longer about one single day, or week – it looks set to take over the whole month,” he asserted.

The growth in online shopping could mean that more people are looking for customised gifts for their loved ones, and there are so many options out there. If you have a special piece of jewellery that you’d like to pass on, but that is looking a little worse for wear, sending it to be chrome plated could help make it look as good as new again.

Of course, Black Friday is tied in with the American holiday of Thanksgiving, and it seems that over in the UK many of us have already started shopping for festive gifts. Research published by American Express last month revealed that 8.2 million people in the UK have already purchased Christmas gifts.

According to the survey, Liverpool is the UK city with the most prepared shoppers, where 28 per cent of people have already begun buying presents for those they care about.
